Choosing a massage training school in Belgium

How to choose a massage training school in Belgium
Choosing where to train as a massage therapist is one of the most important decisions of your career. In Belgium, massage is not a protected title in the way that physiotherapy is, which means the quality of your training — and the school you choose — carries a lot of weight with clients and employers.
Here is a practical checklist.
1. Ask exactly how many teaching hours you get
The single most useful number is guided teaching hours. Ask how many hours are spent with an instructor, how many are hands-on practice, and how much is theory. A school that is vague about hours is a warning sign.
2. Look at who is teaching
Experience matters. Ask about the instructor's years of practice, how many students they have trained, and whether they still work with clients. A teacher who practises every week brings real-world detail a purely academic course cannot.
3. Check the class size
Massage is a hands-on skill. In a class of twenty you spend most of the time watching. In a small group you get corrections on your technique. Ask for the maximum class size.
4. Confirm what the certificate says
There is no single national massage licence in Belgium, so the value of a certificate comes from the school's reputation and the hours behind it. Ask what the certificate states, and whether the school can provide references from past students.
5. Consider the language
Massage training involves precise terminology. Learning in a language you are fully comfortable in — or where the school teaches bilingually — makes a real difference.
6. Add up the true cost
Compare not just the headline price but what is included: oils, linen, notes, practice hours, and whether you can pay in instalments. A cheaper course that leaves you under-practised is not cheaper.
7. Visit before you commit
If you can, visit the studio, meet the instructor and watch part of a class. How a school feels in person tells you more than any brochure.
